Celebrating 20 Years of Community Restoration News
Transformative Restoration: Restoring a Community
Restoring the integrity of a water damaged home takes hard work and a lot of sweat. As posted last month, there is a great deal of satisfaction in a job well done. The home that is restored is of course part of a broader community. Many communities in Minneapolis need restoration that is much deeper than physical structure.
At Restoration 1 of Greater Minneapolis, it is with great pleasure and passion that we support the Banyan Community Foundation in the Phillips neighborhood. We join with Banyan in their mission to develop youth, strengthen families and create community. We believe this is the MOST SIGNIFICANT form of restoration.
Community Driven Transformation
The Banyan Community Foundation is committed to driving significant and lasting change in Phillips. The charity focuses on youths and families, helping to inspire a better future for children who would otherwise be forgotten. Closing the “achievement gap” is one of the major goals of Banyan Community Foundation, and Restoration 1 is fully invested in helping kids reach that target!
The Banyan Community Foundation in the Phillips neighborhood has a long waiting list, which means the charity is definitely doing something right. With its newly constructed facility, the program will double in size by 2025. Also, Banyan has a 100% high school graduation rate (compared to less than 50% for the Minneapolis children) and a 100% college acceptance rate for participating children. Doubling that impact would be monumental!
Restoration 1 and the Banyan Community Foundation
Up until the last year, we had a member serving on the Board of Directors. Restoration 1 also continues to promote and advocate for the charity in a number of ways. In fact, in 2017 we sponsored a dinner for the Banyan Community Foundation that raised a record amount of money for a single event for the charity. We look forward to sponsoring more events in the future!
Celebrating 20 Years of Community Restoration
Joani and Tim Essenberg have labored since 1990 to promote change. This year is the 20th year since becoming a 501(c)3 non-profit. The biggest event to celebrate this milestone is the GEN Children’s Charity Golf Tournament. It will be a great event and it is unique in Banyan’s history.
The Banyan Community Foundation accepts both monetary donations and volunteers. Time, talent, and treasure are all needed for the next 20 years of community transformation. The charity is always looking for experienced people to join the fight towards all efforts to transform lives.
